Traveler - [Olivia Side]

Description

So yeah, this is Olivia's side of the separate sketches I was working on for Olivia and Taro. Unlike the Taro side, I actually did this one on proper bristol board paper that handles ink much better than the dry media drawing paper I did Taro's side on. I enjoyed both of them quite a bit and it's really refreshing to have drawn something after roughly a month of not even sketching a stick figure, but my god - I need to eventually learn my lesson about using those dots to shade/tone, LOL. It looks cool and all, but the time it takes is just mental. I'll need to look into quicker ways of creating that effect :)

Character: Olivia, by :iconmekasha:
Drawing: Yours truly ;)

Altguard has reached a decision point!

A) Tell her the truth and admit that the vines resembling a ribbon was completely coincidental and was really just done to add a bit of movement/dynamic aspect to the drawing

B) Lie, be arrogant and talk about how AWESOME of an idea that was

Yeah, I know - I figured you'd appreciate my exquisite yet subtle references to her design Pikachu Piff Plz . It was a good way to both pay tribute to her design AND create movement despite the fact that her pose is stationary - I'm just awesome like thatPerv plz .

Ok really though, thanks for the uplifting complements as always~. I really feel like you're being too kind, haha xD though maybe that's just because I'm only just starting to learn how to handle compliments. I'm usually like "Person x just complimented you! Say thank you! But.......if I just say thank you, that doesn't convey how great the compliment made me feel! I've got to say something more.......but I don't have time to come up with the right words......but if I just give them a blunt thank you, they might think that I didn't really appreciate it, and.....[Insert endless mindloop here]", which ends in me just smiling, nodding and saying nothing. I probably look like a jackass, LOL.

As for the light reflecting off her outfit, I kinda borrowed/got the idea for doing that with clothes from playing Growlanser. All the character designs have this 90s anime, shiny-all-around look to them that I thought helped make the designs "pop". Most of the shiny patterns weren't too hard to replicate, so I just semi-copied that and made it more pronounced on clothing, which (In my opinion) helps make the clothing "pop" and make it more visually engaging, when usually my clothes look kinda "blah". Actually I've started to realize lately - even though most anime-ish styles have shiny hair, I tend to opt for more warm textured/toned hair with no shiny highlights, and put the shiny highlights on the clothes. I think......I might be starting to develop a style!?:happybounce: This.......is......HUGE!  It's actually getting me excited to think that I might be getting into a style now, haha xD.

I went and listened to "You're the Best Around" and d'aww, this went from making my day despite a iffy day at work to probably making my entire month xD.
